READ THE ROOM is an open-level workshop on theatrical red nose clowning for performers of all kinds.

This course aims to train the spirit, sensitivity and presence of the actor.

We support actors to deepen their emotional access by celebrating moments of vulnerability and challenging self-conscious habits or fears that can block authentic performance.

This course is taught through various clown games and exercises that progressively scaffold the genre and support participants to discover their unique clown.

Read the Room takes inspiration from Theatre Doyen Philippe Gaulier and Christopher Bayes, Head of Physical Acting of David Geffen School of Drama at Yale.

We believe that this course supplements other more conventional forms of theatre training, especially those from the lineage of the Stanislavski system.

This intersection of perspectives is where Read the Room sits, and sets the tone for our intermediate and advanced level courses.
